About Bionian
A record of a civilisation that ended before Earth had a name — kept by one of its scattered, in the language it broke into.
What this is
Bionian is a work of fantasy science fiction built as a living archive rather than a single book. The premise is simple and the consequences are not: two planets, bound so closely that each was whole in the other’s sky, formed one civilisation — the Bionian Dyad. Some 997 million years ago it fell, infiltrated from within and ended by its own nuclear hand. Its people did not die so much as scatter, passing into mortal bodies on Earth and elsewhere, forgetting everything but fragments.
This site collects those fragments as they are recovered.
How the record is kept
Canon is the fixed record: glossary entries in a four-part house style — Definition, Derivation, Synonym Study, Word Study. Every derivation is traced to its lowest reconstructable root and framed as predating Earth language. The device that carries the whole project is an inversion: the reconstructed roots of Proto-Indo-European and Proto-Sino-Tibetan are treated as descendant fragments of Proto-Bionian, not as its ancestors. The asterisk stays, but it now points the other way.
Lore is the remembered record: histories, sightings, and the long amnesia, set down as they surface. It is allowed to be uncertain in ways the canon is not.
The blog is the working record. New entries begin there as drafts and are promoted into canon or lore once they hold.
How to read it
Start with the entry for Bionian, then the long count. If a word feels familiar in the wrong way, that is the intended effect.
